Debbie Marshall is a landscape painter whose work explores the emotional atmosphere and expressive colour of land and sea - those moments when nature takes your breath away.

Working primarily in oil, she focuses on the movement of clouds, the transience of light, and the subtle interplay of reflection. Her paintings have been described as “filled with the beauty and mystery of light on water, harbouring the weather, holding the mood of the sky and the sea, with a skilful rendering of colour and texture that creates magic and reality at the same time.”

Debbie first developed her curiosity for painting through landscape photography, which nurtured a refined sensitivity to composition and luminosity — qualities that continue to shape her approach today. Her parallel work within therapeutic fields further enriches her practice, allowing her to express emotional resonance through visual form.

Originally from the undulating farmlands of Leicestershire and later influenced by the dramatic moorlands of the Pennines, these varied landscapes have shaped the evolution of her distinctive atmospheric style. Now based in Scotland, she draws inspiration from wild coastlines and ever-shifting skies, where mists lift, sunlight seeps through cloud, and contrasts intensify. These changing elements continue to inform and deepen her exploration of mood, light and landscape.
