Step into the magical world of Hayley Potter MA (RCA) FHEA, a British artist whose work celebrates folklore, the natural world, and the stories that connect us to place. Based on the South West coast of England, Hayley creates hand-built ceramics, illustrations, and writings that weave together myth, memory, and the everyday magic of nature. Her art invites us to look closer at the plants and animals around us, to see their symbolism, and to fall in love with their wild beauty.
Trained at the Royal College of Art, Norwich School of Art & Design, the Kent Institute of Art & Design, and Imperial College London, Hayley was taught by artists and writers including Quentin Blake. Early influences such as Kiki Smith, Paula Rego, and Beatrix Potter continue to shape her fascination with storytelling, anthropomorphism, and our cultural relationship with the land.
In 2015, Hayley introduced ceramics into her practice, drawn to the timeless way clay has preserved human stories across centuries. Her Wild Blue Collection - a range of ceramics, original artworks, prints, and cards inspired by the folklore of plants and animals - has been featured in The World of Interiors and House & Garden.
Through her work, Hayley continues to craft a magical, eco-conscious world that invites us to connect with nature, stories, and the wildness that lives all around us. Because, as she reminds us, we protect what we love.
