Kate Millbank | Printmaker

Kate Millbank is a printmaker and designer based in Aberlady, East Lothian. Working mainly in linocut, she creates bold, layered prints that celebrate the landscape, wildlife, and native flora and fauna of the British Isles. Her imagery begins with quick sketches made outdoors, often at dawn along the coast, which she later develops into hand-carved blocks and multi-layered compositions. Each print is produced using non-toxic, hand-mixed inks on her small press, designed and built by her engineer husband.

Originally from Wimbledon, Kate studied Fashion at Central Saint Martins and later gained a Master’s in Sustainability from the Centre for Alternative Technology in Wales. After working in fashion and eco-conscious interior design, she moved to Scotland in 2013 and trained at Edinburgh Printmakers, establishing her own studio in 2017.

Kate’s work blends craftsmanship, sustainability, and a connection to place. Alongside her limited-edition prints, she creates hand-printed wooden bird decorations and paper goods - pieces that bring the outdoors in with warmth and simplicity.

Her practice and home studio were recently featured in Country Living magazine (June 2025).
