Andrew Major
Andrew’s ceramics are hand built and sculptured in stoneware. Decorated with oxides, underglazes and hand mixed glazes, the work can take on a quirky and playful quality. Various hand building processes are applied to produce the ceramic work such as slab building, slip casting and manipulating forms thrown on a potter’s wheel. An electric kiln is used to fire the work, this produces an oxidising atmosphere which has an impact on the glaze colours which can vary with each separate firing, making each individual piece unique.
