Jackie Cardy - Pink Brooch

Fabulous handmade felt with delicious dyed velvet combine in this little piece of wearable art..

First the background felt is made from pure merino wool , combining colours to create a subtle yet sturdy base for the brooch.
Then the beautiful hand dyed silk velvet is selected and cut to shape for the centre of the brooch.
Next the velvet is appliquèd to the felt using free motion machine embroidery in lovely variegated rayon threads chosen for their colours. Then a little bit of enjoyment happens when the decorative stitching is done all around the central shape.
When Jackie is satisfied with the overall design, the outline shape is cut carefully and meticulously , some pretty Liberty cotton lawn fabric and a study pin are added on the back , it's given a final trim, and pinned neatly to a presentation card ready to send .
