The robin was declared Britain’s National Bird in 1960 and it’s been a much-loved icon ever since, especially at Christmas. Originally known as robin redbreast (even though it looks pretty orange to us) it’s now known simply as robin. And fun fact: every robin’s breast pattern is unique, just like fingerprints. In spite of its extreme cuteness, robin is feisty and quick to drive off intruders. Robins are unafraid of people and often hangs around when you’re gardening, waiting to see what goodies you stir up. Catch one forever.
